FPU Answered My Prayers
"I was married for 20 years to an alcoholic. This brought a huge debt load with it, even though we were making six figures. The stress and chaos finally got us. I have been divorced for 10 years now, and I have lived on the poverty level while going back to school. My credit cards were my emergency fund. Even though I was 'careful,' I had a lot of debt after I was done. I had a budget that was okay, and I was starting to repay my loans, but I was tired of being in bondage. Interestingly, I had been praying for a better way to work the budget.
"Our church offered FPU two weeks later, so I signed up and was a convert by the second lesson. A year and a half later, I have paid off two school loans with two credit cards to go. While repaying these loans, I have had to subsidize my parents who are in poor health, help my autistic brother, and finish a number of house repairs without missing a beat.
